    CUSTOM AIRBRUSH TANNING

    ABOUT AIRBRUSH TANNING AND

Airbrush tanning is the process of spraying an ultra-fine mist onto your skin to apply the DHA based solution. Airbrush tanning is often referred to as spray tanning and is virtually the same process, although you have different options. Airbrush tanning or spray tanning can airbrushed on to the skin via an automated booth system or HVLP (high volume, low pressure) spray gun.

DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) is primarily used as an ingredient in sunless tanning products. It is often derived from plant sources such as sugar beets and sugar cane. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the most effective sunless tanning products contain DHA as the active ingredient. DHA is a colorless chemical that interacts with the amino acids in dead skin cells to produce a brown color change on the skin. Since these dead skin cells are constantly being shed, the color change produced by DHA usually lasts about five to seven days.

DHA has long been approved for topical skin use on the skin.

The long term effects of ingesting DHA in large amounts is unknown, therefore Luminosity offers additional protection. It is suggested  by the FDA that you use protection during all sunless tanning sessions. At Luminosity we provide you with the proper accessories, such as nose plugs, eye protection, lip balm and disposable undergarments.

No matter what type of sunless tanning you use, know that these types of tanning do not protect you from the sun. SPF lotions should be applied to the skin over the tan when you are exposed to the sun. Although you may look and feel as though you have a deep base tan, do your best to block out any UV or UVB rays that may penetrate and damage your skin. It’s no secret that the sun and UV tanning beds can be permanently damaging to your skin and to your overall health. Try sunless tanning, the safe alternative and instantly gratifying way to achieve the perfect tan!
